User Obligations
I, _________________, herby understand that using a computer at home is a privilege not a right; furthermore, I agree that the Internet is a powerful communication and
research tool, which presents potential risks to users. To ensure my safety, and the safety of my family, I agree to follow the guidelines listed below.
I will not give out personal information such as my address, telephone number, or the name and location of my school without my parent’s permission
I will not give out, or post personal information regarding the members of my family, such as names, addresses, phone numbers, or where they work
I will inform my parents immediately if I encounter any information that makes me feel uncomfortable
I will never agree to get together with someone I “meet” online without first
checking with my parents. If my parents agree to the meeting, I will be sure that it is in a public place and allow my parents to escort me
I will refrain from sending my picture or anything else to anyone on-line without first checking with my parents
I will not respond to any messages that are mean or in any way make me feel uncomfortable. It is not my fault if I get a message with inappropriate content. If I do I will tell my parents right away so that they can contact the online service provider
I agree to limit my use of the computer to the following times of day

I agree to limit my overall computer use to a maximum of ______ hours per day
I will not engage in online “bullying”
I will share all passwords with my parents

I will get permission before I download anything from the internet onto my computer
I will not access any websites that I would not view with my parents
I will have only one account on any social networking sites, such as myspace, Xanga, ect
I agree to follow these rules at home, at the homes of my friends, at school or any other place I use a computer
